Travis County Constable Pct. 2 Sgt. Dwight Bertram was given the Honor to present the Texas State Flag to Lloyd Kokes during his 100th birthday celebration held February 10, 2018 at the Tree of Life Church in Pflugerville. The flag flew over the state capital on his 100th birthday on January 8th, 2018. It was presented to him in Honor of his 27 years of service as a Deputy Sheriff with the Bexar County Sheriff Department in San Antonio, Texas from 1960 to 1987. Uncle Lloyd, as he is called by members of the congregation, was in the hospital battling pneumonia on his birthday. Uncle Lloyd recovered and was released from the hospital and able to receive the flag in person. Although he now has to have an oxygen tank with him, Uncle Lloyd is sharp as a tack and still plays the fiddle! He played about 10 songs at the celebration, including the Cotton-Eyed Joe and The Old Rugged Cross.
Travis County would like to extend our congratulations to Uncle Lloyd for his service and dedication to law enforcement.
